  • 2

This article will guide you through the process of setting up your server with a custom domain with/from Cloudflare®. Before proceeding with this knowledgebase article, please check on your control panel whether or not your server is utilizing a dedicated IP. A dedicated IP makes the numerical IP for your server end with 25565. If you have something else at the end of your numerical IP you do not have a dedicated IP.

Example of Dedicated IP and normal IP:

Dedicated IP:
Normal IP:

  1. Log in to your Cloudflare account.
  2. From your Dashboard, click your domain.

  3. Click the DNS tab on the sidebar.

  4. Click “Add Record” and fill out the following:
    1. Type: A (default)
    2. Name: The subdomain people will use to join, typically “mc”
    3. IPv4 Address: Your server IP (everything before the colon)
    4. Proxy status: DNS Only (click the toggle)

      See below for an example:

    5. Confirm it is correct, then click Save.

If you have a Dedicated IP, you are done! Head in-game and enter your brand new IP. Otherwise, continue on to step 6.

6. Once that is added, click Add record again and follow these steps:

    1. Type: SRV
    2. Name: Same as the name you set above, typically “mc”
    3. Service: _minecraft (make sure to include the _)
    4. Protocol: TCP (default)
    5. TTL: Auto (default)
    6. Priority: 0
    7. Weight: 0
    8. Port: Your server’s port, the 5 numbers after the colon in your IP address
    9. Target: The subdomain you created above, for example,

See below for an example:

Click Save, and you’re done!

Congratulations! You've set up your domain with Cloudflare!

Please be aware that it can take up to 24-48 hours for your domain to be completely active due to DNS propagation, though this ends up very rarely taking more than a few minutes.
